英國海軍向英國航太系統(BAE Systems)公司訂購的最後一艘45型驅逐艦鄧肯號(Duncan)，日前運交皇家海軍，經過一番測試後將正式加入英軍行列服役。
英軍42型驅逐艦在1983年福克蘭戰爭中遭擊沉2艘，證明該級艦已無法應付現代反艦飛彈威脅。為了淘汰42型驅逐艦，英國海軍在1990年代末期推動45型驅逐艦建造案。原先預定花費50億英鎊(約80億美元)採購12艘45型驅逐艦，預計首艘艦能夠在2003年下水，2006年服役。
不過，因為建造費用上升與國防預算緊縮，使得採購數量減至6艘，總採購費用也暴增至64億英鎊。首艘「無畏號」(Daring)也延至2009年才服役。
45型驅逐艦排水量7350噸、長152公尺、寬21.2公尺，最高航速27節，艦上成員約190至230人。配備BAE的桑普森(SAMPSON)主動相控陣(AESA)雷達、S1850M 3D對空監視雷達。
