美國參議院於美東時間9月30日下午以54票對46票駁回眾議院版預算案，臨時運算案將再送回眾議院進行協商表決。不過，現在距2013會計年度預算截止時間只剩下數個小時，兩黨能否達成妥協卻仍在未定之天。美股在聞訊後跌勢有加重趨勢。

嘉實XQ全球贏家報價系統顯示，截至台北時間01日03時45分止，道瓊工業平均指數盤中跌0.96%(146.36點)至15111.88點；NASDAQ指數跌0.41%(15.36點)至3766.23點；標準普爾500指數跌0.75%(12.66點)至1679.09點；費城半導體指數跌0.11%(0.53點)至490.28點。       

面臨聯邦政府17年來可能首度關門的危機，歐巴馬稍早前還表示，將親赴火線與兩黨國會領袖進行磋商，希望取得共識，以避免美國經濟因政務停擺而受到衝擊。

國際信評機構則在投票後發表聲明指出，不太可能因舉債上限爭議而對美國「AA」的主權債信平等作修正。
